January 2016 Update [H-EB04]

新年快乐!

I'll try to start the new year off with a better track record than 2015, but no promises or resolutions.
  • Buddy Allstars+ have all been added to the blog except for Star Dragon World. I'll get around to those in a bit, sorry!
I hate Buddy Allstars so much.

Bushiroad is practically force-feeding us the "correct" and "good" builds to follow and it really sucks. I understand trying to promote certain cards and making them better, and it makes sense for stuff like Drum and Jack who are main characters and stuff. Even the Hundred Demons stuff is bearable to an extent. But Buddy Allstars literally took the titular character of every world and every archetype and gave them super buffs. Like +1 buffs. Cards that were actually just two cards.

That's not okay.

Demongodol is probably the most blatant example of this. Read his effect. He is literally every copy of Demongodol in the deck and himself simultaneously. He doesn't even lose advantage. You play him, you get 2 Demongodols in your possession. Not that it makes Demongodol good - in fact, Demongodol was at a pretty bad place before this and this barely makes the current deck relevant. But the fact that Bushiroad is willing to go this far just to make cards relevant shows bad planning and bad judgement. Good games would have never gotten a power creep this bad in the first place. Okay games would have resorted to a banlist by now. Bushiroad refuses to do either and the negative effects can be easily felt. This isn't just for Buddyfight; this is company policy for virtually all their games.

On more positive news, we have a semi-diverse meta again! Yay! With the rise of decent removal for all worlds and the decline of aggro, we'll be seeing more combo-oriented decks that attempt to chain advantage together in unique and interesting ways. Not sure if this is what Buddyfight needs, but it's potentially less cancerous and offers more player interactivity (than aggro/Item-based aggro).

For now I'm more interested in making budget-type decks and I'll probably publish a new article on how to budget because getting into this game costs way too much now.
Until next time!
