Battle Deity Robo

So I'm not a huge fan of robots, but I do like my share of them. I loved Bionicles as a kid and I won't deny that a cool-looking Gundam would have me ooh-ing at it. But there is an ethical reason why I can't play Brave Machines because it is simply unconstitutional for my own conscience to ever touch something remotely top-tier and bandwagonable. I can't do it. It's impossible.

So Bushiroad, understanding my plight, created Battle Deity Robos. Specifically for me. I know. They're too kind.

While they might not be as outright broken as their Hero World counterparts, Battle Deity Robos do introduce the Ride mechanic alongside some interesting options to other Worlds. And I do think they are playable, all the more so if they get a nice helping of support come H-BT03.

Battle Deity Robo, GIZAI Emperor
Everything must be destroyed
The first thing to note is that Battle Deity Robos have higher BST than other Generic monsters. I know, it's crazy, but they actually have Magic World and Katana World stats, for Size 1 monsters at least. Look at Spear Kart. Size 1 3000/2/2000. That's obviously the same thing as Sea-splitting Irukamaru. Which means that unlike before, Battle Robos won't outright lose the numbers game. Yay.

The second thing to note is that they also get a ridiculous Ride card. GIZAI Emperor comes into play as a 8000/2/5000 for merely 2 gauge (you can also call him to the field for free). That's really good for an item, and 5000 offers some basic defensive properties as well. You can only call Battle Deity Robos from now on, but that's no biggie if we were playing them anyways. The coolest part of GIZAI Emperor happens when you get attacked. You can discard a Battle Diety Robo card to give GIZAI Emperor Counterattack for the turn. So unless your opponent links with all his monsters, he's going to be risking that each of his monsters gets destroyed in an attack. And nobody want's that.

Battle Deity Robo, Search Whale
I'm looking for a few
things...including Nemo
Well, if they link you can simply Operation Restraint and take no damage. Haha.

I think the best world to use Battle Deity Robos in is Magic World. Magic World traditionally has a problem with good items, so GIZAI Emperor allows them access to a playstyle they've never been very good at before - playing with open center. Not to mention that Magic World can draw very well, allowing them to recoup the hand needed to utilize Battle Deity Robos effectively. Search Whale is also a great card for Magic World and the first ever card available for Magic World that gains gauge from attacking. By making the most of Fall Back and Magical Goodbye and even Check it Out!, you can save your field from danger while forcing your opponent to make hard decisions regarding attacking or not attacking GIZAI.

If you don't like Magic World, there's always Hero World, which actually gives you benefits for Riding (though you still can't call anything else). Legend World is another possibility since you can discard cards like Alwidol to plus (though you can't make good use of Ice Blade Joker).

Great Battle Deity Robo, KISIN Rakshasa
With KISIN Rakshasa, Battle Deity Robos not only get an alternative Ride but a good offensive card, 3-crit with Penetrate on-discard is perfectly fine.

Hand traps are great!

Void Fort Mumyo is the third Size 3 boss of Battle Deity Robos and has its own unique niche. He's got the offensive 3-crit, but a nice defensive 6000 defense with the added bonus of being able to turn cards in hand into -2000/-2000 traps, which negates attacks less than 8000 power. It's also not trait restricted, meaning Void Fort Mumyo works great with the cards in Magic and Legend world that plus on discard.

Gaolion is the first plussing monster engine ever given to Generic, so he's a real treasure.
