February 2015 Update [BT05]

BT05 rolled around and this time I made good on my word. We got all the stuff updated within a week! Now I can finally sleep...zzz...

The following articles have been updated:
The following articles have been created:
  • Katana World gets a short article on Water simply because there is now a single card that has Water and Water alone as a trait
  • Darkness Dragon World has new articles for Deep and Purgatory Knight respectively
Again, if you happen to see a Bushiroad ad on this site, please click it! It's just a hotlink to their main site. It'll help a lot, both for Bushi and me.

So. With BT05 a lot of things have changed, and the game has become a lot more balanced. Katana World was seriously undersupported but now gets enough cards, specifically monsters, to give them enough tools to garner advantages. For Ninjas, this came in the form of everybody's favorite runaway Ninja for major Counterspell plays. Skull Warriors get basically 4 more copies of Underworld as well as a spammable 3-crit and a Mover. Katana World in general also gets some unique support for Weapon-based decks, having no less than 4 Size 1 cards with Move and even a spell that gives Move. It's all fun and games once we get our missing PR cards.

Magic World was always strong, but now they've gotten even more options to choose from. I wished they got new stuff that topgauged but I'll settle with cards that reduce gauge costs for both 72 Pillars and Wizards. Andy is super amazing and with the PR box topper bouncing witch you can literally bounce forever. And 72 Pillars doesn't fall too far behind with all the new Size 2 rush strats with Great Barrier.

DDW is now playable. Black Dragons still suck and Death is amazing, but playing Deep is definitely the most entertaining. 4 Accel End is totally hilarious. Purgatory Knights are pretty carbon copy of Dragon World Armordragon stuff with better spells but worse weapons.

What's left? Ah, Dragon World. I'm fairly certain there's not too much to talk about, Armordragons remain basically unchanged and Dragon Knights become more relevant with better weapons, draw engines, and awesome Impacts.

With all the new support, it's hard to call out a single deck as being top tier. After debating with some of my peers and many sleepless nights of furrowed brow, I have finally come up with my "unofficial" tier list for Buddyfight.

Without further ado, here it is:

S Tier:
  • The deck you want to play
Shit Tier:
  • Everything else
I hope that was immensly helpful for you as it was for me.

What's on the horizon for this blog? Well, there's some back-to-back releases as English and Japanese scramble into the new year with some pretty radical changes to Buddyfight, including a complete abolishment of our current BT numbering. I'll do my best to stay on top of things and keep information current. As for strategy/math articles, they'll be incoming but very slowly as I simply do not have the time in college to be giving this the time and effort it deserves.

But Deck Profiles shouldn't be that hard, so expect some in the near future. My goal is to have a Deck Profile for every world at the least.

And of course, Ancient World needs some love. We'll get there, boys.

Until then, thanks for all the support! Looking forward to a new year of Buddyfight with you all!
